What is orfay?
orfay is a website for sharing pictures. To get the scoop on features, check out the about page.

Does orfay cost anything?
No, orfay is free for as long as we can keep it that way. We appreciate donations, and give out special features to people that support orfay, but orfay should be mostly free. We'll try to break even with some minimal ads.

How did orfay get started?
We started orfay.com when we learned that the yafro.com website was going away.

Are you affiliated with the old yafro site?
no.

How did you come up with the spectacular name of orfay?
Hmmm. We lost a bet? Flipped a coin? Or looked in a mirror?

On yafro I was able to do BLAH but orfay doesn't have it. What gives?
We're adding features as we go. We'll get to it as fast as we can. :)

How come I can only upload 50 photos each week?
We are trying to make orfay breakeven so we are trying to limit our computer and bandwidth costs. If you want to upload more photos you can donate for a powerup to upload 300 photos each week.

How many videos can I upload each week?
You can upload 50 videos per week. We'll probably add a powerup to allow you to raise the limit to 300 videos each week.

How many friends can I add?
You can add 75 friends. If you want to donate you can powerup to a friend limit of 300 friends.

I want to upgrade to full member benefits on orfay; how?
That's great! Go hit the donation page.

What are powerups?
They are thank-you powers that we give you when you donate to orfay. The current powerups let you post more photos per week, add more friends, or view the site without ads.

How long do the powerups last?
Powerups last for one month chunks of time. For example, if you donate to pick up the photo posting powerup on the 20th of February, the powerup will last until the 20th of March.

What's with the powerup icons?
Whenever you get a powerup, you get to keep that current month's powerup icon on your powerups page. Each month there will be a new powerup icon for each powerup. So, even if you've decided you don't want to donate again to continue using a particular powerup, you will get to keep the powerup icon you already got for as long as orfay is around.

I upgraded to a super yafroan account on the dead yafro.com site; is that honored here?
Yeah, we'll honor super yafroan memberships by giving you the friend and photo powerups for the duration of your old super yafroan membership.

How do I change my email address?
Click on your 'account settings' page and enter a new email address.

How do I change my default picture?
To change your profile pic, first click on My Photos. Then click on the edit link below the picture you want to use as your profile pic. As long as the photo has been moderated as safe, you will see a link set as profile photo.

What's the difference between private, public, and 'friends only' photos?
Anyone can see your public photos, and nobody can see your private photos. Only the people in your friend list will be able to see your 'friends only' photos.

How come I can't add an unlimited number of friends? I like making friends!
When people have tons of friends on orfay, it makes the site really slow (this has to do with the way we send out email summaries of your friends photos, and how you can quickly view all your friends' recent photos). Lame, but true. Your friend limit is raised if you donate to us.

I don't want to let a particular orfay user comment on my photos. Please make him stop!
Go to the annoying user's orfay homepage (e.g. http://annoyinguser.orfay.com), and click on the 'block user' link. That should take care of the problem.

What are w00ts?
w00ts are basically a way of saying 'Hi', 'Hey', 'Yo', 'What up', 'Wink', 'D00d', etc. Hitting the w00t link on a user is a way of getting them to notice you. It drops your name on their page of people that recently w00t'd them. And on your own page, you'll see if people recently w00t'd you. w00ts are silly. Don't use them.

What is G, PG-13, R, and X rated content?
The ratings are used to mimic the US movie ratings standards so that everyone has a common understanding of how photos are rated on orfay. You can view the details of the ratings system on the Moderator Guidelines page. By setting the level of content you would like to view, you will see all photos at that content level and below. For instance, if you elect to view PG-13 rated photos, you will see both G and PG-13 rated photos.

Is there anything that isn't allowed on orfay?
This is explained in greater detail in the orfay Code of Conduct. Basically, we want to let you define the standards of the orfay community, but there are a few things that we will not, under any circumstances, permit. So, for instance, we require that you keep the following off of orfay: child pornography or anything that could be mistaken as such, bestiality, incest, rape, and anything else illegal or extremely offensive. Your account will be removed if you don't comply.

How do I unblock PG-13, R, or X rated content?
If you're sure you want to see images with those ratings on orfay, you can change your photo content filter. First, login to the site (you need an orfay account) and click on 'home'. In the sidebar on the left-hand side, click the link that takes you to 'account settings.' From there, adjust the photo rating level you would like to view, then hit 'Save changes'.

I saw something illegal on orfay; what should I do?
Send an email to orfaysupport(at)gmail.com with the subject 'illegal content'.

I'm not getting any email from orfay!
It might be because your spam filter is blocking our emails. If this is the case, you need to make sure that team@orfay.com is a friendly address. You must also click the email verification link in the first email you receive from orfay before you can receive any further emails from us. You can also try using a different email address in your account settings page. AOL and Verizon are known to be bouncing emails from orfay at this time.

How come I'm not getting the verification email?
It's possible some mail service may be completely blocking emails from orfay.com. If you really can't get the verification email, email us at orfaysupport(at)gmail.com and we'll help verify you. Or, you can try using a different email address in your account settings page.

Why don't my pictures show up on the front page?
The pics are moderated before other peeps can see them.

How does the weekly upload limit work?
Once a week, we reset the counter on the number of photos you have uploaded.

What is moderation?
All publicly posted pictures are placed into a moderation queue where a team of volunteers make sure the pictures are properly classified as G, PG-13, R, or X for viewing purposes. In some instances, they will need to ban a photo that is illegal according to orfay's Code of Conduct

Some of my locked pics are not posting?
If this happens to you, please email orfaysupport(at)gmail.com and gives us as much detail about the problem as possible. This would be a site problem, not a moderator issue. Moderators have no power over your locked pictures. They do not get to see your locked pictures; locked pictures are not put into the moderation queue.

If I post a photo as public and quickly change it to private a few seconds later, is it moderated?
Yes. Any photo that gets posted as public goes into the moderation system, even if you realize you wanted it private and change it to private a few seconds later. Also, if you originally post a photo as private and then make it public for a few seconds, it enters the moderation system. Setting it back to private a few moments later does not remove it from moderation.

How are photos moderated?
Moderators have a special page on orfay where they are presented with a photo from the moderation queue. The moderator then votes if they think the photo is G, PG-13, R, X, or needs to be banned due to violations of orfay's policies. It takes votes from multiple moderators before the system automatically decides the winning vote count. Typically, it takes ten votes before a decision is reached; this number may vary depending on the size of the moderation queue.

How do you ensure that no one is censoring photos based on their own personal beliefs?
The system requires that multiple moderators must vote on a picture. Plus, moderators do not have the power to moderate a specific person's photos; all photos are presented to the moderators in a first-in, first-out order one at a time. This way, the moderators do not have choice over the photos they are moderating. There are several checks and balances systems to prevent censorship from happening. Moderators are following guidelines issued by the owners of the site. This does not mean they agree with those guidelines at all times, but they do agree to and are expected to follow them.

What are you doing about abuse?
It is clearly stated in the code of conduct that the abuse of members here is not tolerated. Fake accounts and the like are reviewed first by the moderators, then a final decision to delete the account is made by the owners of the site.

Some of my pictures are marked R or X and they are clearly not adult pictures.
As we build the new site, we continue to tweak the guidelines when borderline issues arise. Please check the code of conduct and the moderator guidelines. It should make clear what is considered G, PG-13, R or X by the owners of the site. Please remember that moderators are human and sometimes a picture might be labeled in a way you don't agree with. Feel free to contact support when these issues arise. Also remember that an R rating is not censorship or a ban. It is simply a category that ensures that the safer viewing options are appropriate for people who don't wish to see these particular things.

It seems moderators are targeting certain accounts. Is this true?
Moderators rate pictures in a first-in, first-out queue. They are not allowed to enter a page and pick and choose which photos to moderate. If an account is in question because the user is violating the code of conduct, they may call our attention to it and report the account. All final decisions about accounts are made by the owners of this site, not the moderators.

There are rules about members being 18 and over, yet I still see young people with accounts? What is being done about this?
Unfortunately without a pay requirement that uses credit cards or other forms of verification, there is no way to prove that users are underaged at this time. However, we take a strict view on this and actively remove any users that we find are under 18.

How are moderators chosen?
All members were invited to click a link if they were interested in becoming moderators when the site opened. We chose a very diverse group from those that wanted to moderate. We want all viewpoints here to be represented, as long as those views support legal material and as long as the moderators agree to the terms we have provided them with. Having a diverse group provides another layer of checks and balances. All moderators are volunteers and are not paid in any way.

How are photos labeled "banned"?
The guidelines for banned are very strict. Photos of underaged porn or the appearance of it are banned. Beastiality, rape, mutilation or death photos are banned. It is important to note that moderators are not responsible for, nor expected to check the legality of every posting. They are busy moderating photos. If you choose to post adult material, make sure that it is clearly, with no question, adult. Borderline photos may be banned if the age of the subject is in question. We are very satisfied that the percentage of banned photos is very low.

Why are curse words being marked PG-13? Words that are commonly used?
Again, the ratings are not a ban. It is simply a filter. We prefer to keep adult language in the photos filtered at higher rating levels. That is the decision of the owners of the site, not the moderators.

What is the moderator "forum" and why are we not allowed to see it?
Moderators are provided with a forum in which to discuss matters. There are times when discussion is needed as to how to rate a picture. It is also a checks and balances system for the moderators in that members can discuss the interpretation of the guidelines as well as illegal postings. You are not allowed as members to view this page because discussions about these matters are not decisions. The final decisions regarding all things posted there are made by the owners and are communicated to the moderators on a regular basis as well as to the public. Moderators are instructed not to discuss matters from the board in the public forum for that reason. We will post the final decisions as they are made to keep you informed. We will likely add a public orfay forum that is separate from the moderator forum so everyone can express themselves.
